Cones clinic at Hellendoorn
-
14 April 2025
On 13 April, driving association De Helderse Voerluu organised a cones clinic. For this clinic, Ito Werkman was invited to teach drivers the tricks of the cones driving. The clinic took place in 5 groups of 3 drivers on a regular cones course. It was beautiful spring weather and the track looked brilliant.
Menteam De Heemhoeve had signed up with 3 combinations for this clinic. Due to private circumstances, only one rider from De Heemhoeve was available, Lynley Benneker, who then participated with 3 combinations.
In the first group, Lynley drove Connemara pony Dasy, which was the 2nd cones competition for this pony. And it went fine. In a calm canter, the gates were ridden clear several times within the set time. A nice experience for the young pony and her driver.
In the third group, lynley rode Stapleford Shake A Leg. This 9-year-old Hackney already has the necessary competition experience and also did super in clinic. In very fast times, the course was cleared several times.
Finally, Lynley rode Stapleford Joint Venture in the last group. Also with this 5-year-old Hackney, Lynley managed to clear the course several times in fast times.
With 3x participatings, it was a busy clinic for Lynley, but a lot was learned again and the extra experience gained gives a lot of confidence for the next cones competitions.
