Para Driving
Para driving was introduced by FEI in 2006 to promote driving for people with (physical) disabilities and also to participate in national and international competitions. For para driving, the FEI has established grades and profiles based on which para drivers are classified into a grade (I or II). A para driver is assigned to one of the two grades based on his or her functional ability to ensure a level playing field.
Para driving is only possible with a single pony or horse and for combined driving competitions. Para drivers then also drive on the competitions a dressage, marathon and cones test. For all rules and regulations regarding competitions and tests, the same principles apply as for regular driving. Except that for para driving one uniform dressage test has been drawn up, which is driven in a regular Z-ring. The judging and assessment of the dressage tests will take place in a regular manner.
