Practice marathon at Wierden
-
25 March 2025

On 22 March, Lynley Benneker took part in the practice marathon (dressage, cones test and marathon) at Wierden with the ponies Dasy and Stapleford Jount Venture. Indi Kamphuis acted as groom this practice marathon.
Both ponies have little experience in combined driving, so this was a great opportunity to increase their experience a little. Also because in this practice competition it was possible to practice all 3 disciplines in combined driving.
First up, Lynley drove the dressage and cones test with Stapleford Joint Venture. The dressage went satisfactorily and was rated 66.0 ! In the combined competition, this would give a score of around 54 penalty points, a nice start to the competition.
In the cones testl some sloppiness was made, which unfortunately resulted in some balls being thrown off.
Then Lynley drove dressage and cones test with Dasy. In the dressage, Dasy was still very unsure and therefore restless, but it was also her second encounter et a competition course. The test was therefore judged with 53.3%, or about 75 penalty points in the combined competition. The cones test went satisfactorily and with only one dropped ball, a nice result was achieved.
In the afternoon, the marathon was run, first with Joint Venture and then with Dasy. Both ponies made a fine impression in the marathon and the obstacles. Even in the water trough, although a bit hesitant at first, it was eventually completed with enthusiasm.
