Lynley Benneker drives her second combined competition

  • 25 June 2025

On 21 and 22 June, the Sterruiters from Haaksbergen organised their annual combined driving competition. With the pony Stapleford Joint Venture and Marcel Meiberg as groom, Lynley Benneker took part in a combined driving competition for the second time with the Hackney pony Joint Venture. In the L pony class, she was one of eight participating combinations.

On Saturday morning 21 June, Lynley started the competition with the dressage test. She drove the dressage test very controlled and correct. As a result, the three judges awarded her an average score of 64.9%, or 56.22 penalty points, which was the first place!

Following this, Lynley had to drive the cones test. Within the allotted time, Lynley lead her combination clear through the 20 gates. With 3 other combinations, this earned her 0 penalty points in the cones test ! A very nice result ! And thus she maintained 1st place in the intermediate rankings. A nicer result from this first day could not be wished for her.

Sunday 22 June the marathon on the programm. This day promised to be a very hot one, with temperatures well above 30 degrees. Reason for the organisers to give the combinations one minute extra time to run both the A and B sections in the marathon. The A section of the marathon was run within the set times and thus did not result in any penalties. No penalties were incurred in the six obstacles in the B section, although it was a tough section for the still only 5-year-old Joint Venture. The combination therefore arrived at the finish line quite exhausted.
In the end, 94.54 time penalty points were incurred in the B section of the marathon, resulting in 8th place in the marathon.

With a total penalty points of 150.76, they ended up with 7th place in the final standings and the first win. A fine result for her second combined driving competition. With a slight disappointment after the great result of the 1st competition day.
