2025 Indoor marathon Ambt Delden

  • 28 January 2025

On 25 January 2025, Lynley Benneker participated in the indoor marathon at Ambt Delden with her father, Gerard Benneker, as groom with Stapleford Joint Venture (call sign Johnny). The competition consisted of 2 rounds for each combination.

In the first run, the indoor environment impressed 5-year-old Johnny deeply. But it was his first (indoor) marathon. As a result, in the first gate, the one of the cones (and thus the ball) was swept over. This was repeated on another gate and still another ball was thrown off. The total score of 172.71 points (160.71 time and 12 penalty points) was good for 5th place (out of 7 combinations).

The 2nd round went considerably better. Johnny knew the course and was a lot calmer in his head. An unfortunate manoeuvre caused a ball to be tipped off on the first gate, but otherwise the course was completed well and faultlessly in a time of 153.36 seconds, a total of 157.36 points and another 5th place, as well as in the final ranking.

Much learned, both rider, groom and pony, the journey home was accepted with satisfaction and already looking forward to the next competition.
