On 24 and 25 August 2024, the composite driving competition was held at Exloo's magnificent competition grounds and, as usual, excellently organised.
Gerard Horst was participating in this competition as para driver with Stapleford Shake A Leg.
On 24 August, the dressage and skills were competed.
Unfortunately, a few course faults were made in the dressage, putting a high score out of the picture.
The cones test went more to plan. With a slight time overrun and one dropped ball, a score of 8.96 penalty points was achieved.
On 25 August, the marathon was run.
As usual, the A section, the road course, was completed tightly within time and thus without penalty points.
Section B, the obstacles, became a drama in obstacle 2. With 2 recovered course faults (20 penalty points) and thus time faults, more than 50 extra penalty points were incurred in this obstacle. The remaining 5 obstacles could still be ridden faster, but were completed faultlessly.
Although having gained a lot of experience again, it was a pity that Gerard Horst was the only para-participant at this beautiful competition. This leaves some competition behind.
